“Waitress in Black Uniform Dress with White Apron” Marshall Field’s Animatronic Christmas Window Display Figure. Chicago: Marshall Field’s, 1982. 1920s-era large painted plaster figure (“Walnut Room; Figure III”) of a standing waitress in black shoes, white stockings knee-length black dress with white cuffs and collar, matching white apron. She is holding a tray of sweets (detached, but tray with sweets is present). On wooden base with motor and plug. 41” high. Some wear, her hair is a bit loose at her forehead, blue residue on her hands. Motor doesn’t work. Very good. From the collection of the Museum of Science and Industry Chicago. This, and the other Marshall Field's Christmas Window display lots were created by Virginia Paxson in collaboration with the legendary New York design/fabrication firm, Spaeth Design.
