RCA “Color TV by RCA” Lightbox Sign. 1960s. Double sided for hanging and made of thick plastic with metal housing and fully functional. Internal fluorescent bulbs replaced with LED. This sign appears to have not been issued and is new old stock. An icon of the mid-century era, which saw the launch of color television broadcasts and sets in the 1960s, however the high cost meant these remained out of reach for most households. The hospitality industry could afford that premium in that they were essentially renting the televisions to their guests. These signs were primarily hung on highway motel marquee signage. 50 x 19 x 10”.
