[AFRICAN-AMERICANA]. Group of 10 Various Vintage Items, including: pair of handmade cloth dolls. Dolls of a man and woman (dolls in different styles, presumably by different makers). Both dolls have hair. 8” high and a bit smaller. Some wear, sunning, soiling. Good. And: inflatable doll with skirt and lenticular eyes. 10” high uninflated. Some rubbing, minor soiling. Good. And: “Smoking Sambo” tabletop cardboard standee. With an unused space in the character’s mouth for a cigarette. 10” high. Apparently unused. Minor rubbing, else fine. And: painted wooden brush. 4 ½” high. Minor wear. Very good. And: plastic pencil topper of a minstrel, with partially-used pencil. 6 ¼” long. Minor rubbing, else fine. And: metal enamel luggage tag (or watch fob) with leather strap and buckle. Tag features the “Gold Dust Twins” for Gold Dust Washing Powder. Tag is 1 ¼” in diameter. Minor rubbing to tag and strap. Very good. And: tin minstrel noise-maker. With wooden handle. 5” long. Some mild wear. Very good. And: “Trixy Louisiana Old Style Cooking Molasses” large pinback. [Chicago: D. B. Scully Syrup Co., n.d.] 3 ½”. Minor rubbing. Very good. And: “I rather guess We use Some Sense We hang our Neckties on dis Fence!” wooden tie-rack. [New York, NY: Flemish Art Co., n.d.]. Stamped wooden tie rack featuring two African-American boys. With 2 small metal loops at top. Manufacturer’s stamp on verso. 16 ¼ x 6 x 1 ¾”. Minor wear, else fine.
