[HAWAII]. Large Group of 107 Magic Lantern Glass Slides Depicting Images Taken of Hawaiian Life Photographed During the 1895 Counter-Revolution. [London: Newton & Co., ca. 1890s-1900s]. Black and white glass sides housed in 3 trays and boxes (there are 5 colored slides). Each slide 3 ¼ x 3 ¼”. Slides with captions in white manuscript at bottom. Some general wear, soiling, generally dusty, a few slides splitting with the image within becoming slightly loose. The collection housed in a metal case with locking hinged lid. Very good. List of slides available upon request. The slides were taken during the unrest of the Counter-Revolution which sought to restore the lawful Hawaiian monarchy, but do not depict scenes from the war.
