Copies of the magazines “Number 1” (1968), “Afrostar; The Black Cultural Experience” (1969), “Ebony” (1963) with a cover story on The March on Washington, “Sepia” (1963) with an article and photos of the Birmingham protests, a German booklet “Peace Friendship Solidarity; Angela Davis in the GDR”, the 1967 funeral memorial booklet for Langston Hughes, 12 printed letters from the 1970s soliciting donations for the Southern Student Organizing Committee, The Southern Poverty Law Center, Congress of Racial Equality (CORE), Southern Christian Leadership Conference and the Center for Constitutional Rights. Also 5 original news photos of Black protests, 3 issues of “The New South Student” (1966-67), 3 issues of “Freedomways; A Quarterly Review of the Negro Freedom Movement” (1963-64), 3 black history calendars (1956, 1958, 1961) published in Chicago by “The House of Knowledge” and 16 additional items. Some wear and soiling but generally very good or better. And: Negro Digest, Annual Poetry Issue. September 1969. And: Why We March (1963, Undated four page pamphlet published by CCCO in Chicago. Very light vertical crease at center and slight aging.) And: Donation Envelope for the 1964 Mississippi Summer Project (1964, Unused pocket envelope for the “Freedom Summer” voter campaign. The front states “Postage Will Be Paid By - James Baldwin” with the SNCC New York address. Scarce.) And: Printed Letter Requesting Funds for the 1964 Mississippi Summer Project (1964, Double sided printed letter outlining the 1964 voter registration project in Mississippi with a request for funds to be sent to SNCC.) And: Position Paper for the Southern Student Organizing Committee (SSOC) (1964, Five corner staple bound pages printed on verso only. Undated, but likely 1964 based on the content. Provides the history and goals for the organization. Scarce.) And: Printed Letter Requesting Funds for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (1970, Double sided printed letter requesting donations for SCLC, founded by Dr. Martin Luther King. Slight aging, otherwise fine.) And more.
