[LITERARY JOURNALS]. A Collection of Literary Journals, Magazines and Underground Publications. [V.p., ca. 1960s-1970s]. A collection of over 100 literary journals, magazines and underground publications. Most date from the 1950s to 1970s, with a few published later. Included is Jack Kerouac’s poem “228th Chorus” appearing in “A New Folder - Americans: Poems and Drawings” (and is not noted in the Ann Charters bibliography) and the article “Are Writers Made or Born?” in “Writer’s Digest, January, 1962”. There is a complete run of the first 13 issues of the Kerouac newsletter “Moody Street Irregulars”. Three early volumes of “Olympia; A Monthly Review from Paris” including the first issue with “Ten Episodes from “The Soft Machine”” by William Burroughs. He also has two works in the scarce first issue of “The Insect Trust Gazette” and works in other publications. Numerous poems and articles by Allen Ginsberg in various publications including “Pogamoggan, Number 1”, “Coyote’s Journal, 5 – 6”, “Big Sky #10” and others. Works by Charles Bukowski included in “The Outsider, Numbers Four & Five”, “Down Here, Volume 1, Number 2”, “The Wormwood Review - 7” and others. Lawrence Ferlinghetti’s poem “One Thousand Fearful Words for Fidel Castro” is reprinted the same year as the first edition in “Reflections from Chapel Hill, Vol. 1, No. 3”. Also included are works by Diane Di Prima, LeRoi Jones, Ed Sanders, Ishmael Reed, Ted Berrigan, Alan Watts, Phillip Whalen, Kenneth Patchen, Richard Brautigan, and Gary Snyder. And: “The Unspeakable Visions of the Individual” - Volume 3, Numbers 1 & 2. And: “Golden Goose 6”. Condition is generally very good or better.
