Wilson, S. Clay. Memorial for Allen Longstreth. 1990. Original ink, blue pencil, and white-out on artist’s board with black borders. Image depicts two demons in a bar, talking to a demon bartender: “Where’s Al? Downtown?” “Uptown…” Beneath the artwork is an invitation to Longstreth’s memorial service: “Memorial for Allen Longstreth. The Uptown 200 Capp S. F. 6”00 P.M. - June 5. To Infinity.” Beneath the text, Wilson has inscribed this to his friend and neighbor, Marilyn: “To Marilyn - S. Clay Wilson May 1990”. Sight of drawing, not including black border: 9 ¼ x 6 ¼”. Framed. Frame size 10 ¼ x 8 ¼”. Drawing a bit toned. Fine. An unusual drawing, not only reflecting Wilson’s distinctive style, but also a hint of sadness in the bartender’s face and attitude. Not examined out of frame.
