[GRATEFUL DEAD / TAPER TAPES]. Large Collection of Grateful Dead Live Shows 1968-72 on Cassette. 1966-1972. Large group of approximately 266 Grateful Dead “taper tapes” recorded by a longtime follower of the band. Mix of Maxell XL II, Fuji FX-I, TDK, and others. Tapes are primarily from the band’s “Pig Pen era” (1967-1972) when Ron “Pigpen” McKernan played keyboards, percussion, and harmonica. With some recordings from before McKernan joined the group, and recordings of the Jerry Garcia Band, Beach Boys, and the Flying Burrito Brothers. Dates range from 1/14/66 to Pig Pen’s last show on 6/17/72. Not tested. Each tape has clear handwritten labels with the concert’s date, venue, and setlist.
