ANGEL, Clyde (American, 1920 - 2006). Woman of Winter. 2000. Welded scrap metal. Signed verso. Initially thought to be a hermit, crafting metal works with the help of a welder acquaintance, the actual identity of Angel is widely debated and still unconfirmed, but associated with the father-son duo, Skip and Clyde Willits. This is a late work in Angel’s canon, possibly executed by Clyde Willits himself consistent with the gestural metal scrap cutouts he would keep private from his family and his modernistic hand. 49 x 16 x 5”. Very good and stable condition with cosmetic abnormalities consistent with the nature of scrap material. Third-party shipping required.
