[FOLK ART]. Arma-Christi-Kreuz, Niederbayern (Arma Christi Cross, Lower Bavaria). (German, 19th century). Carved and painted wood and paper assemblage. 32 ½ h x 15 w x 6 ¼” d. This is an exceptional early example of religious folk art. Surface dirt and grime overall. Painted paper cutout cardstock is brittle and stiff and has multiple areas of bends and breaks with some loss. There are a few breaks in wood, and some implements that have fallen off the sculpture. Sometimes unclear where something originally was placed. There are six pieces that are not attached to sculpture. Overall visual of sculpture is intact. Unusual patterns and textures inherent. Third-party shipping required.
