BENNETT, Zina (1891 – 1961). Collection of Over 30 Vintage Photographs. 1930s – 50s. Large group of images depicting this Detroit-based surgeon who moonlighted as a magician and specialized in manipulative tricks, particularly with giant playing cards. Included are snapshots and studio photographs showing Bennett in the company of other magicians as well as mid-performance. Some depict him at annual Abbott’s Magic Get-Togethers (with Nicola, Al Munroe, Ovette, Robert Ungewitter), and others show him with cards, a Vanishing Bird Cage, coins, Linking Rings, and billiard balls. A few depict Bennett in masonic regalia with members of his Detroit Shrine. One photograph shows Bennett’s hand in x-ray format with billiard balls between each digit. The largest 10 x 8”. Generally very good.
