KHRUSE, Khia Khan (fl. 1810 – 20). Khia Khan Khruse, Chief of the Indian Jugglers. Circa 1820. Early letterpress broadside describing feats presented by Khruse, including “qualities of liquor changed,” a blindfolded performance, card tricks, as well as feats of juggling, regurgitation, and the exhibition of a trained canary. Trimmed to 13 ½ x 5 ¼”. Hole at top, general wear, soiling. Dawes collection label to verso.Khruse is said to have introduced the needle trick to the West, and was a successor to Ramo Samee, a fellow Indian juggler.
