[LAFAYETTE] De Vega (Alex Stewart, 1892 - 1971). Illustrated Memorial to Lafayette. 1928. Original pen-and-ink tribute to the illusionist and quick-change artist who died in a theater fire in 1911, illustrated by De Vega with images from Lafayette’s promotional materials and scenes from his show, and bearing a mounted sepia tone photograph of De Vega at Lafayette’s grave, above a typed two-stanza memorial poem to the departed magician. 11 x 8 ½”, with minor wear at margins, old central fold, and old paper tape repair to verso.
