VONETTA (Etta Paul, 1878 - 1964). Group of Vonetta Postcards and Photographs. [ca. early 1900s]. Six items. Includes three postcards (none postally used), one RPPC bust portrait of Vonetta in profile, one depicting Vonetta on stage with assistants and her “Palace of Electricity,” and a large postcard depicting an image of more than a dozen photographs of “M’dlle, Von-Etta La Mysterie Indescribable” in several costumes from her quick-change act, all mounted to a decorative floral backdrop and surrounded by a gilded picture frame. Also included are two photographs: one full-figure portrait photograph of Vonetta dressed as a flapper and posing against a studio backdrop (England: Prof. L. Moorkens); and one photograph of Vonetta’s husband, T. M. Paul, posing under a large gazebo with his band. Sold with: a later black and white photograph of a lithographed show poster depicting Vonetta performing her illusion “By Fire & Sword,” with demons looking on as the magician burns and impales a reclining male assistant. Largest 8 x 6”. Light wear to photos.
