ANDERSON, John Henry (1814 – 74). The Great Wizard of the North’s Handkerchief Globe. Circa 1870. Spun brass vessel with finial-appointed lid into which a borrowed handkerchief was inserted, then set ablaze. Once the lid was clapped on and then removed, the cloth was shown unharmed and returned to its owner. Finish worn and base somewhat depressed, but in working condition (if haltingly). Height 8 ¾”. With a paper label under the base attributing the ownership of the magic prop to John Henry Anderson, the famous Scottish magician.
