Coin Tray. Circa 1895. Gimmicked toleware tray finished in black, gold, and red with a central floral pattern allows the magician to secretly add a quantity of coins to those placed atop it. Diameter 9”. Usual paint wear. Typed label taped to the underside of the tray states, “…bought about 1900 by E.W. Bradford of Bristol from Prof. Herwin.” Herwin (or “Herwinn”) is generally credited as the inventor of the Thumb Tip.
