COLLINS, Stanley (1881 - 1966) Automatic Thought Diviner. British, circa mid-1900s. Set of cards which appear to read the user’s mind by revealing a thought-of playing card. Nine hand-cut and -colored cards featuring hand-lettered instructions (likely by Collins), with one additional blank cover card. Similar to the “Impenetrable Secret,” the first magic trick advertised in the United States in 1749, and based on a much older concept. 10 ¼ x 8 ¼”.
