HALL, Trevor (1910 – 91). A Magician Among the Spirits. Circa 1940. Trevor Hall’s original props for a combination slate-writing and book test routine in which chosen cards and thought-of words selected at random by a member of the audience are revealed on minutely examined chalkboard slates held tightly by a volunteer from the audience. Includes the finely crafted locking Thayer Dr. Q Slates and two forcing books, as well as the colored chalk for the routine. Sold together with a copy of Hall’s book, Testament of R.W. Hull (1946), INSCRIBED AND SIGNED to Eddie Dawes by the author.
The complete routine using these very props is described in Hall’s book where the introductory text on page 104 states that it “…was the late R.W. Hull’s greatest single achievement in magical creation. It has been assessed by expert critics as the most impressive feat of club magic hitherto conceived.”
