Broadside: “A Description of a Medal, in Honor of Neopolone [sic] Bonaparte, Installed December the 25th 1799, The First Consul of the French Republic… [Nottingham: Sutton, Printer, ca. 1800]. Printed broadside with engraved illustrations of medals featuring Napoleon, Josephine, and a fleet of ships. Approximately 15 ½ x 9 ½”. Mounted onto a later backing sheet, 3 horizontal and 1 vertical creases, some edgewear, creasing, soiling, marginal tears. Very good. On verso is a presentation bookplate from H. S. Richards, Esq. from the Public Libraries, Nottingham, with their embossed stamp at upper left corner. AN EXCEEDINGLY RARE BROADSIDE ADVERTISING A MEDAL IN HONOR OF NAPOLEON; at bottom is a mention of a similar medal to be struck in honor of George Washington, as a companion to this medal.
