Near fine. FIRST EDITION, SIGNED BY BRODSKY ON THE HALF-TITLE. Brodsky was forced to flee his native Soviet Union in 1972, for the United States. Besides teaching literature at American universities, he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1987 and was appointed the United States Poet Laureate in 1991. A Part of Speech is his second major collection published in the United States.
