Bound in twentieth-century half brown calf over cloth boards, spine paneled and tooled in gilt in compartments, five raised bands, burgundy and green gilt morocco lettering labels, marbled endleaves, top edge gilt (some minor edgewear, scattered soiling to binding, bookseller’s ticket on fp., text a bit toned with occasional faint soiling or foxing, binding slightly skewed). Near fine. FIRST EDITION. This book relates Burton’s journey in the north western portion of the Arabian peninsula in an unsuccessful search for gold.
