Publisher’s full blue pebbled cloth, front board decoratively stamped in gilt (skilfully rebacked in blue cloth, some color correction to boards, some rubbing to boards, ffep missing, some offsetting to endleaves (in the case of the front leaves, it is the pastedown and the first blank), some toning to text). Near fine. With a book binder’s ticket (“Owen Gernon, Book Binder… New Orleans, Louisiana”) and the inkstamp of New Orleans bookseller Chas. Roche, both of which are on the front pastedown. FIRST EDITION OF THIS RARE HISTORY OF THE FAMOUS ARTILLERY UNIT. Before and after the war, Napier served in Louisiana’s elite Washington Artillery, and fought in several battles in Virginia and the East.
