Giles B. Cooke, With cordial good wishes of Eppa Hunton II”. The first obtainable edition of this book, preceded only by a small edition exclusively published for family members in 1904. Eppa Hunton was a lawyer and soldier from Virginia who rose to the rank of Brigadier General in the Confederate Army (he saw action at Manassas and Gettysburg under Pickett); after the war, he served in the U. S. House of Representatives and the U. S. Senate where he represented Virginia. Housed in modern gray cloth clamshell case. This autobiography is exceedingly difficult to obtain. Howes H826.
