A fine copy of this rare and fragile item. FIRST EDITION. De Fontaine was a prominent (and pro-Southern) Charleston journalist. He was a prolific writer of pro-slavery material before the war and leading up to the attack on Fort Sumter. This book is his war reporting, rife with tales of Yankee outrages against the South.
