[ii], [1-46] pp. Publisher’s full brown cloth over stiff wrappers, boards ruled in blind, front wrapper lettered in gilt (some wear, wrinkling to spine, light rubbing to corners, hinges starting, one photo (“A Typical ‘Bull-Whacker’”) has a curved tear about 3” long at the top. Interior is clean. Near fine. SCARCE FIRST EDITION OF THIS EXCELLENT SOURCE ON THE VIGILANTES OF MONTANA AND THE EARLY CATTLE TRADE. The documentary photos by Huffman and Gordon’s writings are a fine record of life in a western town in Montana. Gordon was a longtime newspaper editor for a newspaper in Miles City (Milestown), and was well-versed in its history. Included are accounts of floods, fires, buffaloes, cowboys, and vigilantes.
