[OCCULT]. JOLLER, Melchior (1818-1865). Darstellung selbsterlebter mysticher Erscheinungen. Zürich: Fr. Hanke, 1863. 12mo. 91, [1, blank] pp. Publisher’s printed wrappers (tissue repair to spine, mild thumbsoiling to wrappers). Very good. FIRST EDITION OF THIS ACCOUNT OF ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS EARLY POLTERGEIST CASES. From the collection of Baron Carl du Prel collection and the Dingwall Collection (pencil inscription on inner front wrapper). In the small Swiss town of Stans, in 1860-1863, Joller’s household was suffering various unexplained phenomena (knocking, doors slamming, disembodied voices, and even apparitions) which steadily increased in frequency and intensity. Eventually, Joller’s family fled the house, never to return. This rare pamphlet is Joller’s first person account.
