Cukor (1899-1983) was a legendary film director, whose films include: The Philadelphia Story (1940), My Fair Lady (1964), Little Women (1933), Gaslight (1944), Pat and Mike (1952), and many more. He had even been hired to direct Gone with the Wind (1939), but was replaced by Victor Fleming. He won Best Director (both Academy Awards and Golden Globes) awards for My Fair Lady in 1964.
