The series of woodcuts, printed by Davies between 1962 and 1967, reflect the artist’s perceptions and political views. Much like tarot cards, they represent the top 6 cards (9 to Ace), the decks with corresponding images of Wealth (Diamonds: Government, Corporations, Laborers), Ambition (Clubs: Ballerina, Football Player, Learning), Love (Hearts: Great Lover, The Lover, Sex), and Death (Spades: including War, Disease, and Old Age).
