POLLOCK, Channing (1926 – 2006). Notes and Diagrams on the Double Sawing Illusion. 1960s. On two sheets of Pollock’s printed letterhead (listing Mark Leddy as his manager), inked on both sides, and describing in great detail the blocking for his version of the Sawing in Half illusion using two assistants and two props; in Pollock’s version, the assistants were restored in a mismatched fashion, and stepped out of the boxes with their costumes half-changed (but their bodies intact). Includes crude drawings in Pollock’s hand of the props in sequence. Wear and soiling from use, but overall good condition. Sold together with: a printed playbill for his appearance on the Hollywood Palace television program in 1965. Pollock debuted the effect on this program, and here it is billed as “cutting girls down to size.”
