Laid-in is an autograph note signed by Cleveland to “Jim + Pat” and various newspaper clippings, snapshots of this book being signed, and a “Booked Up” bookmark. Cleveland was a college professor and is a childhood friend of McMurtry, both being born and raised in Archer City. It is generally believed that she was the model for Jacy Farrow, the main female character in McMurtry’s novel, The Last Picture Show. This book is Cleveland’s autobiography.
