[SCIENCE FICTION]. CLARKE, Arthur C. (1917-2008). A Fall of Moondust. New York: Harcourt, Brace & World, Inc., [1961]. 8vo. 248 pp. Publisher’s full blue cloth, spine stamped in blue and copper, publisher’s unclipped (“$3.95”) dust jacket (minor rubbing to cloth; jacket spine toned, jacket edgeworn at spine and corners, some toning to panels, a few small marginal chips). Bookplate of Paul V. Butz affixed to ffep. Very good. FIRST EDITION. LAID-IN IS ONE OF CLARKE’S PERSONAL BOOKPLATES SIGNED BY HIM. “A sightseeing vehicle, packed with tourists, sinks into a sea of dust on the Moon’s surface. The subsequent struggle for survival is tensely described, with fascinating scientific details. Not one of Clarke’s ‘visionary’ novels, but probably the best of his works of near-future realism.” (Pringle, The Ultimate Guide to Science Fiction, second edition, 1995, p. 129).
