COLLINS, Stanley (1881 – 1966). Important Archive of Magic Correspondence, Brochures, Autographs, and Ephemera. Approximately 150 items, 1890s – 1960s. Covering all facets of Collins' career, the archive includes finely-printed brochures advertising his services as a magician, theatre programmes for various appearances throughout the UK, handbills and photographs, typescripts by Collins (some on early examples of his letterhead), a list of conjuring books in Collins' library from later in his life, correspondence from fellow magicians (including Wu-Ling, Will Goldston, Horace Goldin, Harry Bertall, Louis Nikola, Louis Gaultier, Ernest Sewell, and many more), telegrams to Collins from Carl Waring Jones, items related to the Magicians' Club and a testimonial made to Collins by the organization, an IBM certificate given to Collins in 1963, his membership cards in various professional organizations, a TLS from Pathe Freres regarding Collins' film captured by the firm titled The Shuffler, the manuscript for Wizardy for Winter Evenings by Collins (published posthumously), instructions for many of Collins marketed tricks, notes on other acts seen by Collins, and much more. Neatly organized in three binders. An important collection related to this significant British magician, author, and collector. Should be seen.
