LAFAYETTE (Sigmund Neuberger, 1871 – 1911). Group of Lafayette Ephemera. Including a TLS from H.W. Ryan of Newcastle-on-Tyne to Dante (Harry Jansen) dated April 8, 1939, reading, in part, “The writer and family having had a very enjoyable evening at your Magic Review … thought you would be interested in the enclosed photograph of a cheque we received from “The Great Lafayette" the morning after his tragic death …." With the enclosed photograph of said bank draft, which bears a portrait of Lafayette's dog, Beauty; and a smaller version of the same photograph, with a typed note on the verso presenting it to Dante; a photograph of De Vega (Alex Stewart) at the grave of Lafayette; and a programme for Lafayette's never-to-be-performed show at the Kings' Theatre, Dundee (lacking the center spread, as usual). Four items, the largest 11 x 8 ½".
