[BOOK TESTS]. The Herbert Marsh Book Tests. [Gateshead on Tyne: Herbert “Jock" Marsh, 1940s. Three handmade books of poetry, each typed, bound, and prepared by Herbert Marsh to force a different word in the hands of a capable mentalist. Bound in boards, cloth, and wraps respectively, the largest a tall 8vo. Laid in each volume is an inked note in the hand of Edwin A. Dawes explaining that the books are unique – Marsh manufactured only one of each – and how they came into his possession after Marsh's death on May 4, 1969. Sold together with: two printed versions of the Marsh book tests in printed wraps issued by Magico Magazine in the 1980s, together with a sheet of instructions for their use.
