Cabinet of Card Tricks. London: A.W. Gamage, 1890s. Fine mahogany cabinet with plush-lined hinged lid and front panel and brass hardware, the interior constructed with various compartments to accommodate various trick decks of cards, and individually gimmicked or prepared pasteboards. Included in the set are an Electric Deck, various double-faced cards, production reticules (with original instructions calling the effect the Mystic Cards & Charmed Boxes), Anti-Spiritualistic Séance Of the Giant's Memory, Three Card Trick (ala DeLand's Pickitout, with handmade gimmick), a torn corner/changing card (elastic quite weak), and others, along with printed directions for several effects or trick decks of cards; and a copy of Hoffmann's Card Tricks Made Easy (London: Warne, 1880s), being the finest example of this bijou book we have encountered, with Hamley's stamp to half-title and endsheets advertising Hamley's and Bland's not present in other examples we have encountered. Cabinet measures 12 ¼ x 4 ¾ x 5 ¼". Original key. A handsome RARE.
