[PLAYING CARDS]. Richard Armour's Collection of Playing Cards. A collection of approximately one thousand playing cards back designs of all types, 1890s – 1950s, including Swedish cards, sporting themes, aircraft, fruit, nursery rhymes, horses, British views, pin-ups, flowers, liquor & soft drinks, hand-painted Tarot cards, and dozens and dozens more; also includes many complete packs including advertising decks, double-decks, a few secondary use cards, and more. Gathered by noted Scottish magician Richard Armour of Glasgow and housed in two sturdy wooden cases, all neatly organized by category (but apparently complete decks not collated), and accompanied by to TLSs to Armour, from Robert Lund and George MacKenzie.
Sold together with a grouping of gimmicked decks and trick cards manufactured in England and America ca. 1940, including a Billy O'Connor Instanto Deck, a Chris Van Bern deck, blank face cards, Deland-type packet tricks, and more. A good group.
