[CURLL, Edmund (ca. 1675-1747)]. The History of the Life and Adventures of Mr. Duncan Campbell. London: Edmund Curll, 1720. Second edition. Handsome paneled calf stamped blind with title label to spine (in compartments). Frontispiece with engraved plates, head and tail pieces. 8vo. Very minor foxing, spine caps chipped, minor splitting to joints and usual shelfwear. Very good.
Though often attributed to English author Daniel Defoe, most historians today agree that Curll was the true author. Includes information on second sight and fortune telling. Campbell was deaf and mute, but “could write down any stranger's name at first sight."
