On “Century of Progress" stationery from the Great Northern Hotel. Approximately 9 ½ x 7". Toned, lower margin neatly trimmed. Very good. “My Dear Capt. Borden Thank you very much for The Log of the Northern Light. It is a work of art which I will treasure. My books are now all out of print but here is the last copy of the first edition of My Attainment of the Pole. I expect to leave for N. Y. in a few days, to be gone for about a month. In the mean time here is hope that you may have in mind joys of zero's lowest [?] Sincerely Frederick A. Cook". Cook claimed to have reached the North Pole first, a claim that was fiercely disputed by Robert Peary. Cook's letter mentions Borden's book, an account of his expedition from the Bering Strait to Siberia, funded by him, as he was the millionaire founder of Yellow Cab. A superb association.
