Bound in contemporary full calf, boards double-ruled in gilt, spine ruled in gilt, five raised bands (spine quite worn, labels apparently missing, front board nearly detached, rear joint cracked, boards worn and soiled, endleaves offset, text and plates toned with occasional foxing and thumbsoiling, front folded map reinforced at fore-edge). Still, good. FIRST EDITION OF THIS RARE ACCOUNT OF THE SEARCH FOR THE NORTHWEST PASSAGE FROM HUDSON BAY.
