Bound in contemporary “Society of Writers to the Signet" full calf binding, with boards stamped with the Society's coat of arms, spine ruled in gilt, burgundy gilt morocco lettering label (binding quite worn, front board detached, rear joint cracking, ink notations and shelf label on fp., maps foxed, text toned with occasional foxing, front map neatly trimmed at upper left corner (no loss of image, just loss of border). Fair. FIRST ENGLISH EDITION OF FORSTER'S IMPORTANT AND ACCURATE HISTORY OF EXPLORATION UP TO THAT TIME.
