Publisher's full reddish-brown cloth, boards paneled in blind, spine tooled in blind and lettered in gilt, brown coated endleaves with ads on pastedowns (spine worn, torn, and creased, boards edgeworn and corners bumped, hinges cracked, text toned, foxed, several gutters overopened or starting, bookseller's ticket on fp., a few leaves with shadows of plants once preserved within the pages). Good. FIRST EDITION OF CAPTAIN M'DOUGALL'S JOURNAL OF THE VOYAGE OF THE RESOLUTE IN SEARCH OF SIR JOHN FRANKLIN. The Resolute was eventually abandoned in the ice in 1854, but somehow broke free and was found floating free near Baffin Island in the following year (its recovery by the American navy is related in this title).
