Ross 2.10.1 Kyoko Shirase is the grandchild of Nobu Shirase's younger brother who served as the first director of the Memorial Hall of the Shirase Expeditionary Party to the South Pole in Nikaho, Japan. The writing is from a close relative's perspective and demonstrates a great deal of affection the author had for Shirase while covering his early childhood until later in his life and to his death. The book is very well produced with regard to photo reproductions, quality of materials used and binding. From the personal collection of Shirase's bibliographer, Chet Ross.
