Bound in contemporary full brown calf, spines ruled in gilt, black and red gilt morocco lettering labels (bindings worn, soiled, spines chipped, some repairs to boards, hinges starting, some toning, soiling foxing to text and maps, each volume with gift inscription from John Mosely to his grandson, and the ownership inscriptions of the library that eventually received these volumes, ffep of volume 1 is nearly detached). Good. FIRST DUBLIN EDITION, PUBLISHED A YEAR AFTER THE FIRST ENGLISH EDITION. “Savary travelled in Egypt from 1776 to 1779, at a time when the country was in a state of chaos… His description of Egypt, together with Volney's account, became the manual for scholarly travellers to the country.
