[SPACE FLIGHT PIONEER]. TSIOLKOVSKY, Konstantin (1857-1935). Signed Notebook Cover with Original Sketch. [Kaluga, Russia, n.d.] 2 8vo pages on one 8vo colored sheet with printed title by the publisher on recto. Approximately 6 ½ x 5". Marginal sunning, some light marginal rubbing, faint creasing. Fine. Tsiolkovsky has crossed out the printed title of the notebook, and has written (in Russian), “Additions to Space Research 1903 - 1904 Kaluga [Tsiolkovsky's home town] K. Tsiolkovsky." There is an original sketch of a rocket with a cosmonaut seated inside (sketch approximately 3 ½" long). On verso, there are four columns of numbers and calculations in his hand in pencil. Tsiolkovsky was an early rocket scientist and designer, whose work laid out the foundations and basic principles of modern space flight. With COA from Alexander Auctions.
