Group of Magic-Related Illustrations from Punch. Mid-nineteenth century–1930s. Over 100 pages extracted from Punch, all with cartoons and caricatures depicting magicians or on magic themes, including many full page and double page illustrations. Many of the illustrations involve traditional magic tricks and known magicians including “The Wizard of the North,” using the tricks as barbs on politicians and policies, together with many depicting learned animals, jugglers, and others. Together with manuscripts of scholarly studies and lecture notes by David Booth and Michael Claxton regarding magic-related Punch illustrations. Many pages not counted in total. Condition generally good.
