[Chicago: The White City Art Company, 1895]. Oblong folio. Illustrated with all 80 of Jackson's photographic plates of the 1893 Chicago World's Columbian Exposition. With all 8 pages of descriptive text by Peabody and Wood. All 80 photos are lightly trimmed at the margins. This copy beautifully bound in a modern custom art binding by N. Papetrou, Artistic Bookbinder of Chicago with black patterned silk over boards, front board lettered in gilt, 4 screw posts holding the book together, exotic colorful endleaves, all edges stained red; housed in custom made black cloth box with lift-off lid, fold-out opening with special holders to keep the book in place, and lined in handmade pink paper. Plates are numbered at upper right corner. Box lightly rubbed. Fine. FIRST EDITION OF THIS MAGNIFICENT PHOTOGRAPHIC RECORD OF THE 1893 COLUMBIAN EXPOSITION IN CHICAGO, IN A SPECTACULAR MODERN ART BINDING. Jackson was the official photographer of the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893. “The White City Artfolio is the most elaborate, handsome and complete work reproducing the wonders of the great Columbian Exposition that has as yet been produced, and we can safely say that it is the best that ever will be published, for the reason that the photographs were made by Mr. W. H. Jackson, who has no equal in the field of photography. With the White City no longer in existence, we are able to make the statements above given without fear of contradiction." (Dybwad 1627). Offered with a framed blue glass hatchet with George Washington's profile.
