With 3 mounted text leaves and 2 tipped-in text leaves. Laid-in is a folding hand-colored map, “Carta Geografica de los Viages de Don Quixote…" (approximately 12 ¾ x 15") and a folding plate of a map and a view, “Demostracion de la celebre Cueva de Montesinos citada por Cervantes en su Dn. Quixote." (approximately 12 ¾ x 7 ¼"). Plates are approximately 5 ½ x 3" or slightly larger or smaller (all plates neatly trimmed at margins). Mount leaves approximately 9 x 6 ¼". Bound in nineteenth-century three-quarter brown levant morocco over marbled boards, spine ruled, tooled, and lettered in gilt in compartments, five raised bands, top edge gilt, marbled endleaves (some wear to spine and edges, boards a bit bent, hinges starting). Very good. A MADE-UP COPY OF 18th CENTURY ENGRAVINGS OF VARIOUS EDITIONS OF DON QUIXOTE. Included is a portrait frontispiece of Cervantes. An attractive and unusual item.
