Robertson, 1911. 8vo. 140, [4, blank] pp. Publisher's full blue cloth, front board and spine stamped in silver (first issue binding with silver stamping, instead of the later gilt; spine a bit toned, soiled, edgeworn, some wear to boards, corners bumped, some offsetting to rear endleaves, a few gutters overopened). Very good. FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY STERLING ON THE FFEP: “For Virginia Gregory, in admiring remem-brance and with all my best wishes. George Sterling. Bohemian Club, San Francisco, May 6th, 1920." This copy also has his manuscript corrections on pp. 22, 48, 55, 137. With the publisher's ticket on the rp. Sterling was a major figure in the Bohemian movement of the early 20th century, and one of the founding members of the Bohemian Club. This collection contains one of his most famous poems, The Black Vulture.
