Nearly 55 documents, including autograph letters signed by Osgood, Grey or others, invoices, balance sheets. Nearly all on Osgood & Grey's stationery. Sizes range from 14 x 8" to 3 x 5". The usual toning, creasing, soiling, wear. Generally, very good. Osgood & Grey was a short-lived wholesale grocery company with links to the earliest butchers in the region. Some of these documents are on stationery of other companies related to either Osgood (Algernon Sidney Osgood, 1847-1908) or Grey (Joseph Grey, 1838-1910), some of which are in Texas or New Orleans. This archive reflects the meatpacking industry of the late 19th century in the United States. This archive shows the day-to-day functioning of that industry. Uncommon.
