MONROE, James (1758-1831). Land Grant Document Signed as President. Washington, D. C.: General Land Office, April 27, 1819. Land grant for Patrick Diver of Cincinnati for the “North West quarter of Section four in Township Six in the Second Range West of the meridian line drawn from the mouth of the Great Miami River." Countersigned by the Commissioner of the General Land Office, Josiah Meigs. With the seal of the land office at lower left corner. Sight 8 ¼ x 12 ¾". Mounted or laid onto a mat under glass and frame. Frame size 12 ½ x 17". Document margins trimmed a bit unevenly, several vertical, one horizontal creases, document toned, soiled, wrinkled, edges worn, Meigs' signature nearly illegible, Monroe's signature partially obscured (but still legible). Fair. Not examined out of frame. Monroe was the last Founding Father to serve as president.
